Boot’s July/August Report
Time seems to evaporate nowadays! Our July Report was swallowed up by a virus that attached itself to our computer while we were in Malaysia! Along with it went some very precious photographs taken in Vietnam and Hadyai, Thailand. A very sad occurrence but here we are in August back in lovely cold Perth – Home Sweet Home with frozen fingers and toes but a very warm heart!
We spent most of July in Malaysia, based in Ipoh. Our first short-term Missions Team, from 5ONE4, spent 9 days with us in Ipoh. Micah Boots accompanied by Jonothan Redner arrived on the night we started teaching “Introduction to Missions, Part 2 – Practical Application” – we then had a real life team to work with and show the Bible College Class, this worked very well indeed.
We were away from home for 81 days, in four countries – Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. God did some awesome things among the people and for the people. In Vietnam, while teaching Bible College, on two of the eight afternoons, we found ourselves ministering to the Pastors instead of teaching them. A very special time was had by all, including ourselves!
In Thailand we had opportunity to do some very needful personal ministry with good results, also taught Leaders – “Motivational Gifts”. In Singapore we connected with a number of Pastors and it looks like there will be one more church added to Foursquare Singapore! Please pray for the Pastors in the small churches in Singapore – they feel so alone and need encouragement, Singapore is a very interesting country to minister in.
In Malaysia we taught, preached and continued to develop good relationships with people who now call us their friends! In Bulkit Mertajam, we taught Pastors, spoke to the Ladies and the Youth and preached at the English and Tamil services. The Church has started an outreach to a village of Indian Tamils in Juru. They bus the people in for the Sunday night Tamil Service, and have started tuition classes to encourage the young people to aim higher in education. A very exciting project, the English congregation is believing to raise $1,600 ringgit a month for this project and they are very enthusiastic and positive.
The night before we left Ipoh, we were invited to a Wedding Dinner along with our Shekinah friends and it was a special time of bonding. A sad time, saying farewell for now, but knowing that there is so much more that needs doing.
We count it a privilege to bring teaching and encouragement to current pastors and leaders and emerging pastors and leaders in the various countries that we have been invited to minister in. Just a small ripple in a very large pond – but every ripple counts!
Would you please pray with us for the Liew family as Ps Jenny has just had a successful hip replacement and has a long recovery period ahead of her – Shekinah English Church will be missing her presence for three months.
Pray for unity in the churches in South East Asia, for provision and healing and the obvious moving of God’s presence among the people. Pray that we who have so much will learn to pray earnestly for these developing countries that lack so much.
What’s next? We are visiting Katanning and Bunbury Foursquare churches this month and are looking forward to a very special time with them. We also are looking to the Lord for direction for our next assignment. We strongly believe that in this phase of our lives, we have been called to ‘assignment based living’ and will endeavour to deliver with excellence whatever we are called to do.
Our Home church – 5ONE4 – is at a very exciting stage of development and there is a buzz in the place. They have moved to meeting at the Bedfordale Hall each Sunday morning at 10am. God is certainly changing lives and causing people to rise up and take their rightful place in His Kingdom!
Did you know that one definition for the word Salvation is ‘preservation from destruction’? In Psalm 132 – ‘clothe her priests with salvation’; In Isaiah 60 – ‘you shall call your walls salvation’; In 2 Corinthians 6 – ‘Now is the day of salvation’! In place of the word salvation put in its definition and be blessed that “Today is the day of preservation from destruction” for all of us. He clothes us with “preservation from destruction” We pray that this will cultivate a Hope that gives wings to Obedience in all of us.
God bless!
Love,
Don and Angelina Boots
